EMI Residential & Nursing

At Thornton Manor we specialise in dementia and mental health care.

EMI is an acronym for Elderly Mentally Infirm, this is an umbrella term for a range of mental health conditions that include Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

We offer a bespoke environment fitted with many dementia friendly initiatives, from dementia friendly signage, colour coded fixtures and dementia friendly activity boards. Our whole environment is designed with dementia sufferers in mind.

We also write person centred care plans for all our residents. We ensure we list all our residents preferences, needs and detailed plans of how we will meet them.  At Thornton Manor we take a whole team approach to care, giving our home a family feel. Our residents can expect home cooking balancing traditional choices with nutrition. Breakfast consists of hot and cold options daily. In the evening there are freshly made sandwiches, soups or light bites. Residents also can request alternative options. Throughout the day there are regular hot and cold drinks, snacks, biscuits, cakes or crisps. We use our Health & Wellbeing department to support behavioural issues our residents may experience.

We are lucky enough to have highly experienced nurses working at Thornton Manor.

Their years of experience and training enable us to provide care for almost all long term health conditions. Our nurses are highly skilled in managing all complexities and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams as needed. All our rooms can be personalised and residents are welcome to bring their own furniture with them to create a comfortable and familiar environment. All our residents will receive bespoke care plans written by our nursing staff to meet all their needs and preferences.
